Collection: NiteREM-5

NiteREM-5 (Sleep Formula)

NiteREM-5 is a unique proprietary blend of natural ingredients designed to create a synergistic effect for enhancing sleep. After two years of testing and research, we found a combination of central nutrients and essential co-factors that most of our test subjects found to be more effective than any over-the-counter product they had tried in the past. Patients loved that they went into a restful sleep that lasted all night and woke the next morning without the "fuzz factor" common with other sleep aids. (Dosing directions at bottom of page!)

You may recognize many of the ingredients used on our label such as Valerian root and L-Tryptophan. One of the ingredients you may not have seen before is BioPerine®. BioPerine® is a patented, standardized extract obtained from black pepper containing not less than 95% piperine. This Sabinsa® branded product is a clinically proven bio-availability enhancer for nutrients. The addition of BioPerine® has been shown to boost nutrient absorption and action as much as five fold. This is one of the many differences that we built into the blend we call "NiteREM-5".

When we set out to make our sleep aid, one of our goals was to design a product that could be taken in the middle of the sleep cycle without causing grogginess upon waking (as little as three hours before you typically rise). Throughout the testing we found that the sub-set of patients that woke in the middle of the night (typically 3am) and took 1-2 capsules were able to quickly fall back to sleep and wake rested that morning without issues. Of the patients that suffered from mid-cycle awakenings, many found this to be a great added benefit not experienced with previous sleep aids. Note: Until you know how your body responds it is recommended that you start with the lowest suggested dose. In addition, if you choose to try a mid-sleep cycle dosing (regardless of our results), your first attempt should be done on a day that you can sleep in if necessary.

What ingredients we kept out of it: (Just as important!)

When looking at our ingredients, you will find major differences between our blend and other over-the-counter sleep aids. First, we have purposely avoided the common sleep aid Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Although NiteREM-5 can be taken with it, we kept it out of the blend because of its side effects, most notably: Nightmares, Daytime sleepiness, Dizziness, and Headaches. In addition, melatonin supplements can interact with various medications, including:

  • Blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants)
  • Medications that suppress the immune system (immunosuppressants)
  • Diabetes medications
  • Birth control pills

Diphenhydramine (also know as Benadryl) is a potent anticholinergic agent responsible for dry mouth and throat, increased heart rate, pupil dilation, urinary retention, constipation, and, at high doses, hallucinations or delirium. Other side-effects include motor impairment(ataxia), flushed skin, blurred vision at nearpoint owing to lack of accommodation (cycloplegia), abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), sedation, difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, irregular breathing, dizziness, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, decreased body temperature (in general, in the hands and/or feet), temporary erectile dysfunction, excitability, and, although it can be used to treat nausea, higher doses may cause vomiting. Recently, there have been a numerous articles surrounding the number of DUI (Driving Under the Influence) convictions related to the use of Diphenhydramine. Studies show that even eight hours after taking 50mg of Diphenhydramine your driving impairment is equal to having a 0.09 blood alcohol level. This has become a big enough problem that now DUI attorneys are specializing in it. It is currently illegal to drive under the influence of sedating antihistamines in 43 states.

Suggested Use for NiteREM-5:

2-4 capsules 30 minutes before bedtime (The most common dose taken is three capsules). It is better to take it on an empty stomach, but having some food with it is fine. Just keep in mind that the potency may be decreased if taken with a full stomach, as well as a delayed onset of action. Follow any directions your medical provider may have given you for this product in lieu of posting above. If you awake in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, you can take an additional 1-2 capsules. For both the starting dose and middle of the night dosing, start at the lower dose and increase if needed.

Warning:

Not to be used during pregnancy, except under strict physician supervision. As with any product, consult your health care provider before taking. To report any adverse events call 1-800-332-1088.
